GoldMine Software (Current Status):

Because of it's 'Shrink Wrap' nature, GoldMine is mostly compared with ACT! Contact Management Software. GoldMine CRM has always been the most popular choice among the small business users (generally between 1 - 5 employees). Our company has been dealing with GoldMine for the last 8 years. Back in 2007, GoldMine (Standard) was discontinued by FrontRange Solutions and we realize that this was done in their continous effort to distance itself from it's 'off the shelf' reputation. Though we are witnessing a decline in market demand for GoldMine because of this vendor strategy, we remain cautiously optimistic, that it still has the potential to survive and stay in business in future.

GoldMine Corporate Edition (CE):

GoldMine CE, provides the exact same features it had in the standard version. In fact it still carries the exact same 'look & feel' for the last 5-6 years. A major difference from the standard version is that , it uses SQL server. This SQL server benefit is beneficial to you, if your company has over a hundred thousand contact records. This is where you will see the real power of SQL server. In addition to the one time upfront cost, GoldMine CE also carries a yearly maintenance cost, payable on a per user basis. If your company insists on using GoldMine Software then GoldMine CE should be your first choice.

GoldMine Premium Edition (PE):

GoldMine Premium is a fairly new product by FrontRange Solutions. Although 98% of it's features are the same as it's Corporate Edition, it does come with a more colorful interface. Especially, if you are a software enthusiast, then GoldMine PE is for you. It has numerous Icons, Screens and Menus that can keep you busy for an entire day! GoldMine PE is next step up, from GoldMine Corporate Edition.

ACT! Software:

ACT! Software is coming out as a very strong contender in the contact management field. ACT! software is also a very popular choice among the small business users. ACT! software comes in different version as well. ACT! 2008 and ACT! Premium Edition. If your company is less than 10 users, then ACT! Standard Edition will be a better choice. However, if you have 10 or more users, then ACT! Premium edition is what you would need.
